Not understanding at all what just happened, Meacham goes, accompanied by his assistant, the laboratory where he conducts his research in nuclear energy. Once there, you receive a surprise package containing a mysterious instructions. Throughout the length and width of hundreds of pages made from thin metal sheets, the book details the building piece by piece from different varieties of the same unknown device called " interocitor " with global generator, with voltmeter, with astroscopio with ordenaelectrones, etc. Intrigued to
strange obsession capacitors shown impenetrable even to force a diamond drill, Dr. Meacham decided to get down to work and build with their own hands gadget, which consists of exactly 2486 different pieces. When he finally completes his task, the interior of interocitor comes a voice. A human-like being (at least if one considers the large head, covered with abundant hair, glowing white) by the name of Exeter informing them of the purpose for which they have been subjected to a "test" similar.
Apparently, Exeter is trying to bring together the world's brightest scientists in the field of industrial applications of new energy sources, especially nuclear. As he himself refers to Meacham:
"It we know is You are about to discover unlimited quantities of free nuclear energy. More specifically, the conversion of lead to uranium. "
As one would expect, the doctor, fighter pilot agrees to come to the premises of Exeter. Well, assuming the previous handicap more than evident, that, apparently, all the major researchers in the world are virtually prisoners at the facility (equipped with extraordinarily latest technical advances) of Exeter and it turns out to be an alien from the distant planet Metaluna.
Metaluna is at war with Zagon, another planet that was not long ago that a comet (?!#% LOL) and now is dedicated to launch meteorites directed against surface ships. The effect of such rudimentary missile is none other than the destruction of the ionization layer that surrounds Metaluna, a region of the atmosphere that requires huge amounts of energy from uranium, depleted long ago.
When the situation becomes desperate for the people of Metaluna, they decide to leave Earth, bringing aboard a giant flying saucer Meacham and Adams, with the intention to finish school on the same planet. Of course, they decide to escape but are captured again immediately by the terrible tractor beam of the spacecraft. After all, a technology like this does not seem too far-fetched today, but obviously we are just in the early stages.
Once inside, Exeter explains everything and they begged for help to the desperate plight of the planet (good times). It offers its full cooperation and undertakes not to hide any information (a good hours, again). Thus, the happy couple Earthman, once recovered from the tremendous suffocation caused by the passage of the ship through the "thermal barrier " is set to power on the generator of gravity that makes passengers can move freely of inner circle, as they did on the very surface of the Earth. One of the meteorites from Zagon reaches them, killing the badly injured leaving Monitor and the mutant and Exeter. He is aware that there is no solution, decides to help. Before approaching the Earth, our friends must be resubmitted for the conversion and rehabilitation of their bodies to the physical condition of our world.
